Samuel P. Capen papers, 1893-1956.

A collection of the professional and personal correspondence, speeches, articles and memorabilia of Samuel P. Capen, which document his career as an instructor at Clark College, his work as the first director of the American Council on Education, and as the first full-time Chancellor at the University of Buffalo. Included are also materials on German dramatists, arts and literature, his work with various committees, his views on academic freedom, educational reform, and educational administration.
